Looking for recommendations for a tower for my 95 Ski Nautique. I have questions:
1) Does it need to be reinforced underneath were the tower mounts? I would think yes, the Nautique dealer said the gel is so strong that they just drill into it to mount. Nothing else needed. 2) Can I keep my current bimini top? We really like it and the tiny bimini tops that are made for towers look much smaller. I like that shade! 3) Black or Chrome? Or is that a personal thing. I'm drawn to the chrome but the black may look better with my colors. Anything I should know about the different universal models? Does anyone make a tower specifically for my hull? Thanks! |

I have seen some towers that mount to the outside, allowing for the bimini to stay. I think Indy towers is like that.

Take a look at New Dimension dot com in Maryville, Tennessee. They build a Nautique Flight Control knock off that looks very close to the FACT 2 tower. And heck yes you need support under the fiberglass and gel. That dealer was wrong. You need some metal plates under each leg possibly bedded with epoxy to prevent gel cracking. Also, some will recommend coving the area with masking tape and running the drill bit backwards when you start drilling. This will help to prevent the hole from spider cracking the gel. Tower Color will need to be your call, but Black will match your windshield, but most will tell you not to do it. Most will tell you to add an extended pylon like a fly high or a Skylon. Basically, keep it original.
