Winterizing

Hello all, i'm David and i guess it's time to put away the boat for the winter and i have a few questions. I have a 91 Ski Nautique that i got back in the spring and we used it all summer and now its about to be put in the garage until spring. ok so first question, if i'm storing in the garage do i need to get all the water out of the block and if so how do i do it? can i just pour antifreeze down the water intake bypass until it come out the back? other than disconnecting the battery what else do i need to do to make sure that when spring come we are ready?

David - a good description of the winterizing process can be found in the owners manual. Look in the reference section, all years prior to about '93 are pretty much the same engine.

Welcome. You might consider placing a few dryer sheets around the boat to help keep any rodents away.

ok, i hope this works. the first picture is my 91 Ski Nautique taken by the previous owner, an old friend, that he sent me. the second is my youngest son skiing, he went from never having skied to being able to tandem ski, kneeboard, wakeboard, and even trick ski all in this summer. third picture is my ski that i designed and built myself, i'm a disabled sit-skier. and the last picture is when we went to test drive the boat, thats me in front of it. we took a lot of video also, the link to our youtube page is below. hope you all enjoy.

looks like the first one didn't come in so posting again. we had several kids go with us each week and they did do some tubing but i told them they had to at least kneeboard and in the end they liked that better than tubing

that is a man made water way off of lake pontchartrain in slidell la. but we ski on the pearl river navigational canal, most of the time we had the area we ski on all to ourselves, so great for teaching

I think what a few people were saying about your winterizing question, between where you live and keeping it in the garage we can't imagine you having a freeze up problem. Read through the manual, and some of the winterizing threads on here, and then if you still have questions ask away.

I have put the boat in the garage and i'm not really worried about freezing but i am worried about the effects of water being in the engine for several months. i just want to do everything i can to make sure that come April we will be able to hit the water with as little problems as possible.
