I just replaced my front playpen cushion on the Super Sport. There is an aluminum extension to keep the cover canvas elevated for drainage over the bow and the bottom of this pole rests directly on the cushion. With the old upholstery I didn't car about the circular detent left in the playpen cushion, but of course now I do. What are you folks with this situation using to spread out the force of this pole on the vinyl?

peter,
Put a piece of plywood down below the prop pole. Better yet, get a cheap plastic cutting board. It won't stain the vinyl. |

My boat Peter came from a CC dealer in Indy before N3. Cover I believe is from Indianapolis Canvas? who isn't around anymore either I think, .Anyway they made up adjustable poles for the playpen and the rear deck that has a carpet covered pad attached directly to the pole. The center pole just sits on the floor so one is not needed. No pictures but when I get home I'll take some if you still need them

Maybe a carpet covered piece of plywood is the answer. I was wondering if there are any plastic attachments for those poles that spread out the load. Just hate to stretch that new vinyl.

Or covered with upholstery, that way you don't have a potentially wet carpet pad sitting there to mold
we had upholstery redone on one of ours, and had them make something similar out of the remnants for a step pad, a plywood square lightly padded with same upholstery stitched on tightly as a cover. It's a hard boat to enter without stepping on the seat, so we just put the pad down and it distributes the weight nicely when you step in. Only thing is, if don't tell first-timers about it, they actually avoid it, thinking whatever it is maybe I shouldn't step on it....maybe we should have had it embroidered "Step Here" |

I really like the "step here" padded carpet thing. I'm going to make a circular pad with bunk carpet on it for dual purpose--the pole can rest on it, and people can step on it. I'll just hide it after boarding.

If that bow pad is sectional just remove the appropriate section so the pole sits on the floor not the pad.

Gary
That cover could have been made by Smitty's Indy Marine. They have made all the covers for the boats I have owned since the early 60"s (their in the 3rd generation) They like to build the covers with the boat there to ensure a good fit. |

I used to be able to read the tag Steve, I'll have to use a different light and try again. It's a very good cover it seems to have lasted a long time.
