Hey All,
I have a 96 Sport Nautique, what is a typical water temperature range. I just put a new impeller in and I’m not sure it is working properly |

Jason,
Here's some answers from your post last September.
Did you ever check the temp with an IR? |

Should be pretty close to what thermostat is in it. Fuel injected boats 160, carb'ed boats 140. What is yours doing? You can actually see on my gauge when the thermostat opens

180 at speed and close to 200 at idle. Can you change the impeller/ thermostat while the boat is in the water?

Yes just make sure whatever connections you disconnect are above the waterline.

You can also try running a temporary separate ground to the gauge. Mine was reading similar to what you are seeing until I recently rewired my dash. It would read around 200 after a ski run but now it reads 160 cruising and slightly higher after a ski run. The new wiring definitely made a difference.

Take your handy I/R thermometer out with you to the lake and take some readings at the block water pump, thermostat housing, etc. That will let you know if your gauge is accurate.
