after 40 min ride last night seemed to be running little warm, port side exhast manifold almost 50 degrees hotter. what?

Have you had an impeller go bad on you lately? Sounds like you have some pieces clogging the water passeges/hoses on that side preventing adequate cooling.

It depends on the plumbing setup. When my thermostat opens, most of the water exiting the manifold will go out the driver side exhaust. The raw pump is on the passenger side and the T is close to the exhaust manifold on that side (for water cooling exhaust on both sides) and the water flow is crossing the thermo housing toward the driver side. I noticed this several years ago when winterizing my boat on a cool day. I noticed alot more steam on the driver side when the thermostat opened. And like he said, you could have some impellor parts stuck in the manifold, you should notice less water coming out.

tim your engine and mine are identical.
i got the impeller after you told me how
to read the number off the back of the pump,
just been to busy to do it. so this weekend ill be changing the impeller and flushing out the hoses.

thanks and when you winterize do you run pink antifreeze through?

No, I use the green stuff. I always crank it with the fake-a-lake in the driveway before I take it to the lake. While you're checking the hoses, take the thermostat out and look at the end of the bypass fitting that's to the left behind the thermostat housing. It has a 90 degree in it and I've found impellor pieces stuck in that thing twice.
