Well my Ramin galvanized trailer has rusted out after 18 years of use brackish water in Maryland for my 1993 SNCB.
I am a big fan of the Ramlin (other than the fact this rusted out in about 15 years) but my dealer doesn't work with them. They offer Boatmate, Venture (aluminum), and possibly Phoenix (aluminum). I am really not sure what I should purchase, the Ramlin design is the only one that looks "right" to me. As an old school Correct Craft fan, when CC built trailers they never had winches and always used the wish bone style trailers. Ramlin seems to be the only company that will build a trailer like this. The Venture is not an inboard specific only, but can be built to fit inboards, they are fairly popular here but sit a little higher and don't look like a traditional inboard trailer to me. The Boatmate looks nice online, but sits higher than the Ramlin I am used to. And I seem to be finding a number of folks that prefer Ramlin to Boatmate. I'll probably go with a Boatmate galvanizec but I would love some feedback on the Boatmates for the 1990- 1996 hulls. Thanks! |

Cannot comment on the Boatmate's but Ramlin is not building boat trailers anymore. I have a Phoenix and I hate the roller bow stop. If you have the Ramlin crash pad take it off and save it for your next trailer. Thanks to a member here who saved his and didn't need it anymore it is now on my Phoenix.

Ramlin is still very much building trailers. They just don’t build them for Correct Craft direct anymore but will for a customer who has a Correct Craft. The trailer isn’t identical to the old ones, think the guide poles are different. And you can deal with Ramlin direct... but maybe only if you’re local. Either way, call Tito at Ramlin and be a persistent booger to get ahold of them.

So I have owned both trailers. A 2006 Ramlin single axle and newer 2017 boatmate tandem axle trailers. I towed with a single axle ramlin on a 1999 Sport Nautique and 2002 Super Sport Nautique. I always loved the loading experience on the wishbone trailers. However, for that experience you pay a price, which is drilling into the channels of the trailer to secure the bunks and can create long term rust issues.
I also have galvanized trailers due to running in brackish river water. I bought a one year old, 2017 galvanized tandem axle boatmate for $4,000 about a year ago. The biggest difference in the boatmate is the bunk configuration, which is raised a little higher compared to the ramlin. Honestly, I've really enjoyed towing with the boatmate and loading of the boat has been equivalent to the Ramlin and very easy. After a year of use, I've been happy with the construction of the trailer and don't have any complaints. As for the looks, I have a 2003 SAN and I happen to really like it, even with the bow roller and winch. I've gotten used to not having the Ramlin crash pad. If you are buying new, a single axle is just under $5,000 and a tandem is over $6,000. Keep in mind the galvanized Boatmate only has a 1 year warranty. I looked at all the different manufacturers you recommended and think Phoenix is another good option, but I find Boatmate to be more common. Good luck. |

I pressed my local no help Nautique dealer pretty hard for a boat mate. I was getting a high $5k price on a trailer with only one coat of paint and a single 3500lb axle. I was told anything extra was “overkill” and would be extra and special order. I had a hard time settling for lesser quality for a higher price.

Apparently, I can't see and now I can't count! j/k Yeah, I was being conservative, but it's outrageous what the cost of an OEM trailer is these days. You can almost buy a decent ski boat for those prices... |

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate the information. Boatmate tells me they bought Ramlin and that Ramlin will not make a trailer for my hull anymore. I pulled the trigger on a Boatmate galvanized, sounds like they have worked pretty well for most folks.

Must’ve happened this week, or they did some fibbing to sell you a trailer. Maybe Ramlin will only deal with locals? |

Well, I ended up getting a Phoenix trailer for my boat. And just after that the motor failed. I repowered it over the winter with an ATK motor as recommended by a number of folks on here. So far so good with the ATK motor. I am having some issues with the Phoenix roller system however. It seems to want to grab the rub rail as the boat floats off the trailer. I am experimenting with the height of the winch/roller but there is only so much I can adjust it. I see some other folks are trying to work through it as well. I really wish they made a bow stop the way Correct Craft designed them. I also see how the roller is hard on the chine of the boat. I will continue to try different settings but so far I have not found the solution. Phoenix has been great to work with and the trailer seems to be well-built.
