Summer is finally here and we are getting fried while out swimming and trolling around. Curious what others are using for shade besides a bimini top? The Taylor Made Anchor Shade looks promising, but there are no cleats to tie it off to. I would like to avoid drilling into the glass if possible, boat is an 87 SN2001.

We have one and it's a savior on the BFN when we are just hanging and swimming!
Basically take a dock line and lash it to the pylon, we don't leave it up while the boat is moving but does create enough shade to hide from the full sun! |

![]() [IMG]https://i.imgur.com/oO6Bappl.jpg[/IMG A bit redneck? Oh yeah you bet your arse. Impromptu maneuver this weekend my wife tied a flat bed sheet to the upper part of the Bimini frame and lower part to cleat but could’ve easily been tied to Bimini straps. Worked great in the Florida east coast breeze and sun. Spent a 3 day weekend like this and no sun burns on my 9 month old heat sensitive son. |

Just realized you have no Bimini? Oh my, I couldn’t survive like that anymore. Hadn’t put a Bimini on the 76 yet because that’s just wrong..... probably why it sits the most, but as I get older practically is starting to win out.

Correct, no bimini, I would hate to drill into this boat, but I fear it is inevitable at this point. Trying to decide if spending the money on an expensive umbrella is the way to go, or just put it toward a bimini. I don't think the bimini would yield much shade off the back while anchored though.

I have used a beach umbrella. Take off the sand spike. Put a small rubber cap on the bottom of the pole. Strap it with cable ties, or velcro ski rope straps, to the pylon. Pretty easy to take down and stow under the gunnel. Does not shade the whole boat. Gives some relief.
A CCFan bud just gave me an Anchor Shade. Have not used it yet, but that will work also, but is a little more cumbersome. |

For added shade, I use H.F. spring clamps to hold beach towels on my bimini top. The extra-large towels hang down and provide plenty of shade when at anchor. The spring clamps are super fast and are about $1 each.
