Left the house tonight and drove 70 miles to the coast to do some dirty 4 letter word that starts with F, fishing. Get to the ramp and I undo the winch prior to backing down and as I set my hand on the winch this little rat snake was hanging on for dear life. I’ve always had snakes hitch rides in my boats and don’t know why. I’m pretty friendly with snakes as I live in thick trees and rats love trees, so I got this guy to straddle my gig and I slipped him into a hatch on the boat and will open the door for him when I get back home. People at the ramp couldn’t believe I put him safely back in the boat.

"Little" rat snake!?! Sir, if not mistaken, that is the deadly giant diamondback anaconda python king cobra, at least what it looks like to me based on the picture. I admire your calm and cool around them critters! But, I know they do good by eating varments.
