I’m switching from Prestolite to Petronix Distributor in the gears on the new one are opposite direction has anybody had any luck with switching the old gear with the new one will this cause any problems?

Since this seems to be for a 351, you're gonna run into an issue. The RR gear on your Prestolite has an ID of 0.531 inches and the shaft on the Pertronix has an OD where the gear sits of 0.500 inches. Pertronix doesn't sell a RR gear for that distributor either. That translates to major won't work type sloppiness. ![]() Here's a link to a place that would sell you one with the right bore if they had it in stock link You can get the one you have bushed down to 0.500 at a machine shop as one option. |

I should’ve been more specific yes it is a 351 Windsor 1985 ski Nautique
