1978 Southwind 20

I bought a 1978 Southwind 20 late last summer and it is in much rougher shape than it appeared and from what the seller led me to believe. It was running fine the first weekend of use, but then started to take on water and slowly sink when left in the water. At some point the boat had a rock strike and I believe the prior owner did his own repair. It badly needs fiberglass repair near the rudder port among some other things. I'm willing to sink some money into it, but we came across some issues when the underwater gear was removed. The mechanic is concerned about being able to reuse the existing rudder port and drive shaft strut. Is there anyone out there that knows where to find older parts like this or has older parts like this for an old Southwind 20?

Here is what I'm dealing with. I don't have pictures of the specific parts, but can have the mechanic send them to me.

Apparently the drive shaft needs to be replaced, which he can get... but said the rudder port is a unique size 1 7/8 and he may also need to replace the drive shaft strut. Indicated there were 2 (formica like material) wedges at the back of the strut about 1/8 inch thick.

Mechanic also mentioned that someone disabled the vacuum secondary on the holley carburetor.

Yes I believe he is referring to the thread size at 1 7/8 and I was told 2 inches is more standard.

It was also mentioned that the rudder does not appear to be original, but he felt it was big enough to get the job done on this boat and that he can work with it.

The engine is a Ford 351 and I believe original.

The 351 would be the correct engine. The reason I asked about it was seeing if a different engine was used causing a different engine position and in turn the need for the shims under the strut. Now, I see there may be a different reason for the shims. Per the list I have, a 1975 and up Southwind uses a 6A6 strut and you say you need a 154 DV. ???

Here is the sheet that was provided by Zach when he was at N3. I'm guessing Bruce had it sent to N3 when he was there after Midwest closed since his name is on it. Anyway very hard to read but it does say the 20' 1975 and up uses 6A6
