I own a 1986 Silver Nautique on the original trailer. I'm buying an ID plate on eBay to rivet to the trailer. It should list the VIN, which I have and is a Maryland "special" because we didn't get the trailer registration when we bought the boat used 30 plus years ago (young, dumb and wanted to get skiing).
Need the model, which I think is: Corr TL G Need the GVWR. This is the one item I'm completely unsure of, everything else will be close enough with the current information I have. Tire: ST205/75 R 15 D Need the date of manufacture, which is probably 1986. unless someone knows how to get the day/month/year. There are some numbers stamped on the tongue just before the ball receiver. I think they are 35800 but the 3 could be wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Andrew

Pretty common to see 225/75/15 on the 6-lug trailers... what makes you think the 205 is correct? Back in 86 there’s a good chance it would have listed a bias ply on the plate. Are you looking for originality for the plates sake, what would be appropriate for the purposes of the authorities, or what would be appropriate to use? They may be 3 different things...
I would expect that the GVWR was on the range of 5200lbs as that is what the axle/bearings/hubs were rated for. Again, what I put on the plate might be different based on your answer above. |

I'm looking to put what should be on the ID tag. Not super concerned about the authorities. I already have the "special" VIN plate on the trailer and would be leaving that in place, so they should be happy. I spent some time on the site looking for any discussions on the trailer ID plate but didn't see anything. It would be nice to install something that matched the original but I have no idea what that would look like. If someone could post a picture, that would be great. |

I thought those years used that foil type of sticker. Didn't Marty have them made up?
