Need new windshield glass for 1990 SN.
Have read other posts indicating that a flat piece of tempered glass will flex enough to work. But a highly rated local glass shop here in Houston says it will break. Which is correct?

It obviously can, but will it?

I have replaced mine twice.  It is a flat piece of glass that bends pretty easily.  It was actually kind of floppy.  Call NP and ask them what to use.

Woody at Nautique Parts was very helpful over the phone. Says you need to remove the windshield frame and install the glass when it's off the boat.

I just took off the top frame piece and slid out the old one and slid in the new one.  It was pretty easy.  I'ts not necessary to take the frame off the boat.

There must be more than one way to get a new piece of glass and install it  Wink

The bottom edge of my boat's windshield is longer than the top edge, so that could be difficult.

It's the same windshield as mine.  It's been a long time but maybe the side windows have to be loosened slightly and pushed outwards.  Also the windshield glass is a rectangle not tapered.

Yes. Found a boat windshield repair specialist who replaced the glass with high quality plexiglass and did a nice job. Charged $400 which was covered by insurance.

A company in FL offered to supply and ship the glass for $500, but I didn't find anyone in the Houston area who would do the installation. They were all concerned about breaking it, because of the flex (which was not a great design, IMO).

I could have created a pattern, ordered the glass, and installed it myself (with some help), but wanted to get it done sooner.

Nice. I’ve done a few boat windshields with hard coated polycarbonate, and will be doing one of mine this winter too.
