I recently re-purchased the first Ski Nautique I ever owned. It is a 1974. Was Ralph Maloons personal promo in 74 and original owner told me way back when the boat pulled the nationals in 1974. The guy I sold it to kept it in the garage and put 46 hours on it in 32 years. It now has 466 original hours on it. It was a crazy purchase, as I need another boat like I need a hole in the head, but it was always a great runner. Softer wakes than any of that era Nautiques I ever skied behind and a 255 hp ‘Palmer’engine, marinized by Thermo Electron, which is Crusader. The boat would bury the speedos over 50 with ease. It was the first boat I ran 35’ off behind and I always felt is was a great, unique old Nautique.

So now I want to make it a collectors item at my Ski Lake. Originally, red lettering with Royal Blue accent stripe. ‘Correct Craft National Tow Boat’ on the transom. The guy stripped the transom, painted the red to blue and got rid of the arrow and accent stripe. I am going to go back to original and need to know the following:
- color of original red (I know rust oleum professional)
- The spacing difference between Ski Nautique and the accent stripe
- the thickness of the accent stripe. And if it tapers, what is the thickness at the bow vs stern.
- height of ‘National Tow Boat’ it was on one line across the transom
- I understand stencils are no longer available for the sides, but wondering if they, or a graphic is available for ‘Correct Craft’ on the transom. It was in all caps, with all letters the same size.

I am also in search of the original white-faced Airguides. The left one broke when I owned it and replaced it with a black one that can be calibrated. The right one is original, but the face is heavily patina’d.

All input is appreciated.

Thank you!

Still filthy in these pics.  More to come.  Figured out how to load so they are oriented properly.

expect it to be very cool when finished.  These are all of the pics I have at the moment.  I will take more and send as I make progress.  At least now she has had a bath, carpet cleaned, observers seat turned around, blah, blah, blah.

I have 2 of these for the transom, they are a decal stencil, stick it on, paint then peel. I also have the dimensions and font for the stripes  and competition ski boat which are under correct craft for the transom.

I'm looking to have both correct craft, the stripes and competition ski boat made from mylar so they can be re usable.
a national tow boat with stripes stencil would be nice to have as well.

Very happy to donate 1 of these decal stencils and the pdf of the stripes and competition ski boat to a stencil maker who can make what we're both after.

By the way, i traded a member for the decal stencils and i think what's a pdf of the stripes and competition ski boat, they are 100 percent exact in size and the exact font, hopefully the member power of correctcraftfan can find a stencil maker ( i've had no luck, primarily because the stencil would be something like 53 or 54 inches long, have to load a micro sd to get that exact number) Someone can make  them.

Nice boat by the way, get more pics up

Garzon studio has those decals to correct it. They are good quality and the right size.

And Stan has the side emblems. Looks like starboard is missing some.

I already spoke with Stan.  I should have the Emblems any day and I already have the decals from Garzon.  I love the assistance!

I really would like to Get another period correct speedo, and re-do the faces so I have a matched set.  or find another black one to match as a minimum.  I am sure one or two will pop up

If you click on the link below, on page 6 you'll see some names that could be contacted about buying one(or 2) of those white face speedometers

Whether they're for sale or not probably depends on what somebody AKA you, wants to pay Wink

I found a stencil maker who can cut stencils up to 92 x 44 inches.
I sent them a picture and a pdf image with dimensions for the transom.
Should hear back tomorrow, maybe have a proof by the end of the week.

The stencil will be 10 mil mylar and reusable

Only thing i need is the distance between line 1 and line 2 on the transom looks like 2 1/4 -2 1/2  inches

anyone have a ski nautique and a tape measure i would greatly  appreciate it.

Wetset can you post a transom pic

I made some notes of the stripes from the sides of my boat in hopes it would help on figuring out the transom stripes. However it was a 3 stripe top shadow and bottom,

*they ran same width and spacing (approx) until the windshield (approx) then they tapered to a point*
I edited this last sentance after looking thru some pictures on my phone

Edit in; the red and blue stripes are shaped and tapered very similar if not exactly as they were on mine minus the shadow stripe.
the transom stripes are longer due to there being less letters, and the stripes wrap around the corners.

Stripe thickness and spacing as follows; top stripe 2 inch, 1/8 space, shadow stripe 3/8,  3/16 space, bottom stripe1 inch.

But i think you mentioned originally yours was a 2 stripe boat red and blue. Luckily in the reference section there is a picture of that boat with national tow boat on the transom.

Who knows maybe the ole man's boat was used in the brochure and theres a picture of now your boat when it was new.
That's a triple whammy :  originally the ole man's boat, & the brochure boat,  that pulled the nationals

Thank you, I will try and sort it out and talk again.  Yes, extremely similar.  Mine does not have the deck stripe or I would have thought it was it, plus mine has a ladder.

Do you have the measurement from the rear corners to the bottom of the lower stripe?

Heres what i got on paint and transom layout.
On the sides, the measurement is 9 1/4 inches from hull to bottom of stripe at the transom.(at least on mine)
You see i don't have the elevations for the transom but that was before another member sent the transom pdf.

Someon has this era hull and a tape measure, maybe they could post elevation of and spacing between lines 1&2 on the transom,
Same thing with the spacing on a 2 stripe boat

(betcha they had some sort of template and the spacing is the same between the top and bottom stripes on the 2 and 3 stripe boats with the middle shadow stripe being an option or something, that would make that spacing approx 3/4 inch)

Than you so much.

This is very helpful.

I will take some more pic's lay out with some tape and see how it looks.

I am sure there are others that would like to see the progression.

Should be longer stripes on either side of national tow boat.

Reusable to about 20 times i think they said about the 10 mil mylar.
Paint your boat, epoxy the garage floor, paint it on the man cave walls, paint your neighbors van, paint the middle of an intersection, slap it up on a bridge overpass, on the glass doors of city hall, dumpsters, trains, semi trucks, see where i'm going with this ?

Download this picture and email it to them, that's how they made mine.
In your email to them include how you want it to read national tow boat in 2 inch capital letters.

I'm not an e-mailer gadgeteer phone up my butt while walking and driving type,
i called them, customer service was excellent. Proof accept and paypal was done online thru gmail.

Sending a pm out to ya now.

So, did you find the Airguides you need ?
I also have a '74.    I might consider selling my original pair of Airguides. They both have new white faceplates.

The decal that Keno mentioned "1925-1975"   ???
Keep it....from sinkin'
