![]() ![]() ![]() My marine carpet adhesive order arrived. The delivery driver left the box at the end of my walk and boogied off. The box was damp and soggy. Thankfully I chose to open it outside :) What a mess. About a 1/2 inch of adhesive remained in the pail. Overtons made this even more amusing by asking me to return the order for a refund. Say what? They finally agreed to credit my account, but did not refund the postage. I guess I paid $20 for the privilege of receiving this mess. Kind of annoyed, but this is funny! Toss the pail in a box with some wadded up paper (still loose) and don't even tape the lid shut. Whatever. Wrote another e-mail and we'll see what Overtons says. I may contest the charge. But I'm laughing none the less. What's the worst delivery you've gotten?

Good thing you left it outside! We ordered Exterior lights that never showed up during Covid. We got a refund 2 months later. A month after the refund a delivery driver showed up. I happened to be outside for delivery. Battered unmarked delivery truck, crazy looking driver. The box looked like someone took 20 oddly sized pieces of cardboard and a while roll of packaging tape and, magically made it happen. The lights were inside. That was our oddest. Your delivery seems worse though.

I got a box of air about 10 years ago from Amazon. It was supposed to be a trailer ball. I didn’t even open it, sent them a pic of the label. The entire weight was obviously significantly lower than the weight of the product. They shipped me a new one right away.

Around here Fedex uses (I guess) contract drivers, with Budget rental trucks and no shelving. Everything piled in the floor and your boxes have footprints on them.

Somebody did you a big favor! that stuff is awful!
I ordered the same, opened mine and refused to use it, its a big runny gooey mess waiting to happen. I opted for DAP Weldwood All Weather Outdoor Carpet Adhesive on my last project, it trowels down great and stays put, good working time too, no regrets. |

I used Weldwood on most of my floor. Ran out. Not sold in California. Most companies won't ship to California and the few that do don't have any in stock. Only low voc adhesive available. The one Henry product that is available is 633 and that is what I was told to use here. However, the directions clearly state that it is not for marine use and I hear that it tends to soften and fail if it gets wet for an extended period of time. CA would rather I use a low VOC product that doesn't work as if having to re-do it is better for the environment :( I can't get regular 3m spray 90 either, but got decent results with the low voc version sold here. Expensive spray cans! Will be looking to purchase regular Weldwood when I'm out of state shortly.
CA won't allow the sale of MEK either. The low voc version does not prep PVC for gluing at all. It is not a replacement for that application. I bought a gallon of real MEK in Yuma to adhere some handles to my inflatable boat and as stock for repairs. CA is not a boater friendly state! Maybe Overtons did me a favor, but it cost me $20 in postage. They have refused to reply.

Overtons decided that they would credit me for the postage. Sounds reasonable... Still working on getting everything fully dry so I can send it to the dump. It's supposed to be cool and overcast today, alas. I will be stoked to see it all go out in the trash :) Just a couple of more small tasks before the boat hits the water again! Yeah. New battery, new starter, new neutral bus, new heater, new carpet, new gas lifts, new impeller and a stereo change so far. I better not forget to replace the anode in my closed cooling heat exchanger. ![]() |
