I am having my boat re-wired and want to replace the interior lighting...under the gunwales in particular. has anyone done this and if so could they share any pictures and insights on this?

Not standard interior lighting, more like "mood" lighting, but if thats what you are after. I ran blue LEDs under my gunwales. Used the string type that comes on tape backing. There were fiberglass supports under the gunwales. It was a 76 ski tique vs your 73 mustang, so I am guessing pretty much the same structure. I took 1/2 inch pvc piping and put it in above the supports that held the piping in place. I stuck the LED strips to the PVC but didnt trust the sticky back to hold so I used a bunch of zip ties as well. Mounted a switch under the dash since I didnt want to drill any new holes or mount any new switches. |
