'78 351 w/Pertronix e-conversion

Does the coil need its own ground wire or is it grounded to the block via the distributor?

I looked at the diagram here and I only saw two wires to the neg post: the tach and a black to the distributor.

It's grounded via the distributor

If you were to run a wire from the coil negative to ground your distributor wouldn't make any spark because the coil would never get to do it's thing and build up voltage and discharge itself to the plugs through the distributor.
