If all goes well, I will be picking up a Separator (straight windshield) next week. It belonged to my great uncle. In the 1990s the fuel line dry rotted, the blower was not turned on before cranking, the fumes from the gas ignited and traveled to the front of the boat and it burned.
I saw this boat once, about 6 years ago. From what I remember, from the dash to the front was missing or severely charred. I don't remember the condition of the hull. Would anything, other than everything metal, the engine hatch, engine, transmission, gearbox, and all parts for the steering, be worth salvaging for The Spoiler I currently have? It has been sitting in the woods near a quarry since the fire. No trailer, just was sitting on the hull, rudder, and prop. What are the chances the bar that goes from the gearbox to the propeller is still good? Or even the rudder? Do I need to be cautious in any way while dragging it onto the roll-back when we go to pick it up? |

I guess the obvious thing would be ..... don't drag the prop, propshaft, strut and rudder across the ground in case they're in good shape
I'd jack the boat up so that the rudder is off the ground with blocks, tires or whatever under the transom and have enough blocking on the roll back to hold the boat high enough that you're not dragging all those parts across the bed of the roll off. Around 18 inches off the ground and the roll off would be a good ballpark number. Since the boat is a V hull you could roll it onto one side of the V also since it sounds like the hull is destroyed The roll off driver could be real helpful at minimizing damage.
Plenty of salvageable parts |

Old tires work great as bumpers, when I painted my 78 Nautique trailer we lifter the boat off with a buddy's tow truck and set it down on old tires, stacked high enough to keep the prop and rudder off the ground.
unfortunately a Roll Off does not have a boom to lift your boat. You might think about using a truck with a boom or a small crane, maybe even a medium sized forklift to lift you boat and set it down on a trailer for transport.
