Considering a winter project and looking for input on a couple repair question.

Came across a 93 SN that is in good (not great) condition, that was supposedly running 2 years ago, wasn't winterized properly, has water in the oil, won't turn w breaker.   Assuming block is toast.  They are asking $1,500.  Has been sitting in a barn.  I have a ski buddy who just re-powered a running 95 SN, that needs the engine out of his garage.    

Any major issues or things to be aware of dropping the 95 into a 93?   

Trying to decide if I would "enjoy" the project enough to do it.   Have seen several discussions on how to pull.   Had a 92 for years (DUI, carb, steering cable, pod rewire, buffing, starter, alternator,...)  Have never done an full engine/tran swap.   Have height in my garage to build the swap A frame.   

The boat looks lightly used, has only 2 vinyl issues, one or 2 small hull scratches, and typical serious gel coat fade.  Floor feels solid.

The "Never again, again" thread has me wondering the best way to check if already full of water.   That is a question.

Don't "need" this boat.   Have a 98 SN for skiing.    This would be winter therapy, some test runs, and then sold....knowing that around my area these sell reasonable quickly in season for about $5k....and take months to sell for more.  Trying not to lose money in the process.

Thoughts?

One thing that should get mentioned is engine rotation.

Are they both left hand normal rotation engines that were hooked to PCM 40A transmissions?

In 93 there was the Standard base version version of the SN that came with a RH reverse rotation engine hooked to a PCM 40I 1 to 1 transmission. Most of the 93's were normal rotation hooked to the 1.23 to 1 transmission, but just something to be aware of.

Your comment about "typical serious gelcoat fade" makes me think it's not an all white "Standard " version 

Also, are both engines carbureted or is there some fuel injection involved with one or both.

Water in the foam......you could just assume there isn't any or drill some holes in the floor to check the foam, or get it weighed to get an idea if it's way over what you'd expect for a 93 on a trailer.

This should be a pretty straightforward swap and there's only one way to know if you'll enjoy it. Wink
