Does anyone know the color name or color code for the red 1969 Barracuda?
I bought my dad's first boat back at auction and I'm restoring it, hoping to surprise him with it later this year. Any knowledge, help is Greatly appreciated! |

If you search the diaries on this site there are some listed as Candy Apple Red. Also right now there is a 1968 brochure for sale on eBay and that also list the color as Candy Apple Red.

I have not heard of Candy Apple Red being an "official" CC color; but what do I know. We lost a lot when the ransomware attack hit the site.
FWIW - my '64 Al Tyll skier was listed as Dragon Red. It was based on the shorter (earlier) Barracuda hull. Still in restoration process....

That is true.
Thank You. My boat isn't that red though, it's darker. |

It was an official CC color in '68 but my boat isn't that red.
I'll try to look up the "Dragon Red". Thank You. |

Absolutely!
Dad's 85 now and has cancer so I'm pressed for time but trying to do it right and get it as close to original as I can. |

Mahogany would be the darker red, I believe. Can also look a bit brown (especially if faded/oxidized).

This is a photo of my 1966 Skylark in Mahogany with original gelcoat to give you an idea of the color.

I see the license plate, I used to keep my old one on my Skier. Is it an old picture or do you keep the plate on? I can't see if you have bow numbers and sticker on it.

Picture is from 2020 and yes I still keep a plate on it. Currently using plate #34 on Ossipee Lake.

Not to insult you NH guys, but those plates were so ugly. I get it on the Skylark as it is period correct. We bought a new Century Resorter from Channel Marine in 1980 that had a plate on the transom. My brother still owns it and those holes are still there. That would be a deal breaker on a new boat for me now.
