I have a 92 ski nautique and I need my PCM 5.8 pro boss to be rebuild, one cylinder is weak. Does anybody knows of an engine shop that knows that style engine in Socal?
Thanks.

I don’t know a So Cal shop to share but many times the 351W engine issues are in the heads. A valve job may give you another life at much lower cost. I did the heads in my 1978 Ski Nautique at 900 hours and with new heads it still ran perfect at 1500 hours when I sold it.

The Ford 351
Windsor is a good solid engine. They have been around in the automotive world
for about 30 years when they were in production. Most if not all machine shops
can rebuild your engine if you go that route. As long as you tell them it’s a
marine style engine. Some will shy away but the old timers have no problem
rebuilding these. You just need to start
looking around and ask a lot of questions of what shops will do and not do.
That’s the only way to get your information you’re needing and who to trust. One cylinder
that is weak could mean a couple of things. Like McD said it could be just a
valve job. Rebuilding the engine is a whole different cost versus re-working
the heads. |
