Just picked up my second CC project boat (I have an '86 Martinique as well). My cousin gave us a 1983 SN 2001 in pretty good shape. It has some wiring issues under the dash that we're trying to trace out.
To the left of the steering column there are four switches and the ignition, along with their accompanying fuses. The wiring diagram we have only shows four switches/fuses, and has shed no light on what switch #2 could be used for. The way it is wired is straight hot from the fuse holder, through the switch, and on up to the ground terminal. Strange. We can't figure it out. #1 (top) - NAV lights #2 - ????? #3 - Blower #4 - Bilge pump #5 - Ignition Every dash picture of an '83 era SN 2001 has five switches, but every wiring diagram only has four. Can anyone help us out?

Here's a quote from an old thread about that switch. It was unlabeled If you were to get under the dash, you should find a power wire in to the switch and no other wire coming out. If there's another wire , somebody added something over the years. Maybe the guy who drew the CC diagram had some "issues" ![]() Here's a diagram that somebody here on CCF did some coloring on to make it easier to follow

The Martinique has been a never-ending lesson in figuring stuff out. I've loved every minute of it
![]() As expected, there was a crack in the water jacket behind the flywheel from improper winterization before we purchased the boat. We have a friend who owns a welding shop, and he is a crack cast iron welder. We didn't even have to take the block out of the boat! We slathered the repair with JB Weld to avoid any pinhole leaks. It's been going strong for three years now, and we've nicknamed the boat JB! Since then, we've rebuilt the transmission, converted to electronic ignition/new plugs/wires, rebuilt the carburetor, new fuel pump, new transmission cooler. Every issue has been a new chance to learn about these beautiful old boats. Many thanks to the CCF community whose threads have proven invaluable to us. I've loved learning to work on boats and skiing, but my favorite has been being able to take the family for a pleasure cruise around our beautiful mountain lakes!

Well, I don't know about anybody else, but I like your fix for the leak
Relatively easy for your welder friend, not a whole big bunch of disassembly and a little JB weld just in case ![]() Nothing to lose really and you're 3 years down, probably many more to go on the fix
