Steve I have to many irons in the fire . Not enough green to get them all done . I still need to finish back porch and then probably swap heads on 72 . I dont know if my heads have issues or not but I bought some different ones from stang .I have atleast a bad head gasket on mine . I did get the 59 woody out of the weather and have been looking for an engine and some other misc. parts .I'm glad to hear you are doing ok .Hows the grandchild doing ? You must be proud !!!! How about pics?

Boat's getting a crate GT40 over the winter. Found a great deal on one and couldn't pa$$ it up. It should be good to go by spring. Not a good boating year for me in 06...hopefully 07 will be better. BTW....anyone looking for a good deal on a GT40 that needs to be rebuilt.....I know where you can get one relatively cheap...heads and all

I don't know what to ask for it. It looks like one of the pistons actually "shrunk", and was banging around on the cylynder wall...hence the noise at GL. The head on that side is off, as well as most everything else required to get down to the pistons on that side. The head on that side will need to be gone through, because the exhaust valve has metal shavings from the piston and cylinder wall in it. The easiest fix would be to resleeve that cylinder, and hopefully you'd be good to go. The engine only has 273 hours, or something really close to that, on it.

Rob

BTW Steve.....that Skier wouldn't be a "dog" anymore......

Grandpa (wood): Maybe we could "partner" on that motor. I think the '80 would like a GT40 but I have no skill or place to learn. So if you got it and redid it then I could give ya a place to get rid of the motor to, that is if you didn't want it.

John,
Some people (ie.. my wife) says I need to get one project done before starting another.
But then on the other hand , she's been saying that for over thirty years!...guess Im not a good listener.... In fact, the last couple weeks I've even been doing "house projects" ..need to make some more brownie points for when I do get back out in the shop later this month!

John,
At one point, we all had no knowledge of what we do on our projects. Just gotta get up the nerve and dig in.. read lots, ask lots of questions, etc.
As for a place...set the tone for the block...tear it apart in the front yard! Good way to meet yor neighbors!...
....Once, shortly after getting married,I even had a neighbor bring a police officer with him one evening after midnight. .. I really didnt think the air compressor was that loud?!..

Let me know how much you want for the GT-40 just curious......Wouldn't mind having a back up if it's not too much....Hopefully it could be bored to take out scars in cylinder wall?(a GT-40 in a cla$$ic???)

it's the project thing for me really.

hope to see ya at green lake,

Paul: If you get the GT40, can I be first in line to bid on your old motor? Will it fit in the '80? Will you send some of your "a$$istants" to install it for me?

Jbear,

I Doubt if that old 312 would fit in yours it's what they call a Y-block.......Kinda wide stance and not shure if it would fit under your motor box??? You wouldn't want that thing anyway compared to the powerhouse that you have!

My a$$istants...??? Well i'll see if maybe when you come up to KC i can have some a$$istants a$$ist with distributing some beers for ya.......Sound ok?

Take care john

But I will take you up on the a$$istants for my beer. At my age I need all the help I can get.

Paul: C'mon man 38 and feeling your age? You better get some help from them a$$istants. I am 55 and wish I was 38. If I was still that young first thing I'd do would be to hop on a plane with lots of cash and go see the PLBC guys.
