Need new fuel tank (64 American Skier)

I'm having a terrible time finding a replacement fuel tank for a newly aquired 1964 Correct Craft American Skier.

The existing tank is 35" x 8" x 11" (LWH).

I was hoping to find a poly tank to put in there, but can find nothing larger than 6 gallons that will come close to fitting behind that seat.

At this point, it looks like my options are possibly:

1. find an elusive poly tank that fits

2. have an aluminum tank custom built

3. have the existing tank reconditioned

Does anybody have a suggestion on the best way to deal with this?  Is there a fourth option?

Hopefully i'll have my CPES work done tomorrow, and get my new steering system installed.  At that point, i'm pretty much hung on the fuel tank.

	I water blasted my '64 and found holes due to rust from the outside-in. Lot's of rust inside also. I could see the indentation of the rubber mat on the bottom of my tank! I use Kreem (motorcycle mag's have it) on the inside and fiberglassed the outside. Make sure you clean the inside. Some guy's have had the Kreem flake off, but I've never experienced this before. I removed the internal screen on the fuel line....hard to troubleshoot what you can't see. About a day including washing etc and $40 for the tank liner and another $20 for the glass. I also upgraded the Fuel Filter since my boat had a small in-line.

	I think i'm going to give up on the poly tank. I've ripped the fill spout out of the top of the existing tank, but that can probably be repaired. At this point, i'm thinking about taking it to a radiator shop and have it it split, treated, resealed. unless it's rotted, the tank is probably just as good as a new custom aluminum tank. thoughts?

	A radiator shop is a much better solution than using the liner. I "sweated" off my old fuel gauge connection since it was not compatible with the newer ones so make sure your old fuel gauge connection works with a new sending unit...replace the old sending unit...

	Skellum, The dimensions of your existing tank make it seem rather small, or was it the original. Regardless however, I've purchased several 18 gallon "Tempo" brand tanks (I believe they were) thru West Marine. But if looking thru their book doesn't show you the right size with the fill on the correct side, you need to view the manufacturer's book which shows many more. They have these catelogs available in the stores or you can most likely find them online. Don't give up yet.

	Skellum, If you haven't already, try looking on www.tempoproducts.com and for part number 640061 for this tank which is 46.75 x 10.25 x 10. It's the one I was looking for prior and it fit perfectly in a 1965 Mustang. So maybe, unless your enclosed space is shallower. It now goes for $184.99 (ouch) at West Marine, but it does come with a "state of the art" sending unit so the description reads.
