My 77 Ski has aluminum rub rail and I want to replace it with the rubber with the rope insert. Does anyone know what name brand or where I can get this type of rub rail?

rubber with the rope insert is a waste. u have to pressure wash it to keep it clean. it's a real pain, high maintenance. but it's your choice. mold grows quick on that rope & looks like hell. just my opinion . |

Well, I disagree. I did exactly this mod to my 77 Martinique and so far after 15 years, I could not be happier with the decision.
I purchased the rubber and rope directly from Correct Craft...they sell it by the foot. You could experiment with the newer style rub rails and see if they will work. Just by one foot of whatever you want to try and see how it looks and fits once taped to the boat. |

The rope on my 89 looks good with very little effort. The only "problem" areas is where the rail sits by the bow stops on the trailer. Those two spots on the rope will develope a dark mildew if I put the boat all the way on the trailer snug and the rope is wet.

I have the rope and rail on my 88' Ski Nautique and I like it , howerver my mustang 17 has stainless rubrail , I like that too.
Taco Marine makes the rub rail you need you just have to supply the nylon rope . I just redid the rope and rail on a friends 82'Ski Nautique , Just like new . West Marine is a dealer for Taco products , or go to Taco's web site they are very helpful . Good Luck !! Mike Thrower ( Nautique frk ) |

the reason i'm bitchin about it is what i removed from the barracuda was not nylon but cloth rope.it was not original anyway.that cloth rope insert was a pain.the new aluminum rub rail was costly but looks great with my new white finish.

Do you buy the rub rail without the insert, then buy the rope seperate? Also where can you get that stainless peice that goes over the joint at the rear of the boat?
