Hey Guys
Have currently got our boat, a 1989 351 with 1.23, in the marina for a service and winterisation - they have informed me that I need the following parts: 1 x Exhaust Manifold to Cylinder Head Gasket (Port Side) 1 x Carburettor Overhaul Kit 1 x P-Bracket Cutlass Bearing Where would anyone recommend I get these parts from because the UK is ridiculously priced for getting parts for nautiques, should I try skidm ? Also would any of the parts be worth upgrading? Please excuse my ignorance am just going on what the engineer tells me I need. Cheers Gareth |

exhaust manifold gaskets you can get at any autoparts store. Just look up a 70's ford truck with a 351W motor. The carb rebuild kit is basicly the same just need the numbers off of the carb to get the right kit. You should be able to get the packing flax at any marine store.

Thanks 79nautique - I don't suppose you can tell what carb we have by looking at the picture of my engine on my diaries weblink above? It's just that the marina don't think the carb has a number attached to it ??
then i presume it will be one of these: http://www.skidim.com/products.asp?dept=1116 Thanks Gareth |

If it's a holley carb, there should be a number stamped on the airhorn. You'll have to take the flame arrester off to see it. Call up SKIDIM, give them the number and they'll get you the right rebuild kit.

When people run down to the lake to see what's making that noise, you've succeeded.

Correct- and the number to look at is the LIST number. Automotive exhaust manifold gaskets for a 302 would be the same as a 351. |

If I just want gaskets and the like I use real steel, they do felpro marine kits, they may well do holley kits as well - they speacialise in V8's. There's also watercraft services.
The cutlass bearing you can get from any decent chandlers, you need to know the length, ID (shaft size) and OD and they'll order you one. |

don't waste your time on any thing other than a holley renew kit for the carb or it will not perform like it should.
