I'm redoing a 1964 wooden Adam Skier. The steering wheel is cracked and cannot be repaired. Does anyone know about a source for a vintage wheel that would be appropriate for the boat?

David, Can you post a picture of the wheel? Tim is correct that it can be repaired. I've done several with epoxy and then paint. Also, in a previous thread, I recommended ebay for a wheel.

Well, I took pictures, but can't figure out how to put them on the site. The plastic around the metal rod of the wheel has cracked and pieces have fallen out. There are two 3/4-inch to 1-inch missing chunks. The picture shows it perfectly. Anybody able to tell me how to post the pics? Many thanks, bigwavedave

Dave,

Two options for posting pics. First download to your computer. If they are smaller than 200 kb just open up the post reply box and click on the little tree with the arrow. Browse your hard drive, click on your photo and it will be inserted into your post. If the photo is too big for that, open up a photobucket account and use that following the instructions at the top of the "off topic" forum.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

No problem, JBear! Good to hear from you. And glad to know someone knows how to post pictures! What in the #*?@!! is a photobucket? Anyway, I'm heading out to Tortola for a week on a sailboat and then will be in Winter Haven from Feb 6-25th. Returning again March 10-Apr 1. I think I still have your number--give you a call!

David, Photobucket is a on line site that you can use to put your pictures in. It has a downsizing feature if the pictures are too large for CCfan to handle. There is also something about the software that it uses that CCfan likes. I too am not the greatest on the computer and I had a hard time with the pictures. It looks like Jbear after how many years? finally got some pictures up on the site !! above?? The older group here needs to stick together! This is a link to the thread mentioned above on using Photobucket:
photobucket.com thread

By the way, You have a ATOM skier.(not ADAM) Remember the atomic age back in the 50's.

Totally (or at least pretty much) off the subject, looking at the Cypress Gardens Winter Haven Fla. literature, I've always wondered (living more "up north" all of my 45 years) do you (southerners) have to worry about gators skiing down there?

(I know that wording looks funny -- to clarify I know gators don't ski! HA HA!)

But seriously, do you have to ever be careful about them while skiing?

Dave: Do you mean the Dry Tortugas? My son and 5 of his buds leased a sailboat (47 footer!) and sailed themselves out there last summer. Quite an adventure!
Please call when you are in the area. We always have alot of company during that time (March) as it is Spring Training. But we will try to find some time. You gonna boat? We can't get in your lake anymore. Ramp is to low and no water in the canals.

Pete: The only reason I can get pictures on again is 'cause 75 Tique spent about an hour with me on it last night. Now lets see if I can retain the knowledge.

Craig: The rule of thumb is "If there is water..gators are in it". It took awhile nnot to think about it everytime I got in the water. Rarely see them tho. But....just so happens that on the small lake me and Eddie use sometime there is a rather sizable gator. One time when Eddie was footing he dropped and we went to turn back and almost hit this big guy. So Eddie's friend Brian tried to run him over. Mr.gator was not happy...but we figured what the heck...Eddie was in the water not us.
