I though that since you are one of our woodworkers here you would enjoy seeing what I just finished. I'm planning on trimming out my retirement home like I did my present house. I upgraded to a new miter/bevel saw and took my old 25 year, put a friction blade in it for a metal chop saw. I looked at all the miter saw stands that are available and they are all designed for the carpenter and house to house portability. They also have a very poor fence and stop system if at all! I looked at the Biesmeyer fence system and realized that I would still need a base so I went and built the whole thing. Needing a base I figured you can never have enough room so I used wall cabinets. Although edge banded Melamine is certainly not my first choice for woodworking projects, it is durable and plus it's relatively cheap. The edges that are prone to bumping got the T molding. I did buy the cheap utility wall cabinets and should have just built those too. They didn't even have backs in them. I did get them on line feeling that they would be better than the Millspride found at the home centers. Yes they were, but not by much!! Added the Kreg stop system and of coarse welded the base with the wheels on it. Everything in a limited space shop has got to have mobile bases!

That's a sweet rig Pete, but I would expect no less from you. The bar keeps getting set higher Greg.

Off topic question, I noticed on another thread and now this one that your CC and the Dunphy are on blocks. Do you store them that way over the layup or are you working on the trailers.

WOW Pete!!! Fancy knobs too! That really is sharp and FWIW I like melamine for shop use. I also know the woes of a small shop. With all I have going on, I'm rotating stuff to accomodate 8' sheet material and 11' beams. LOL

And you give me grief?!!?

Pete Nice job on the saw table , but I thought you were going to have pics of a boat .
At first I thought it was of the Dunphy , wondering what that thing was in front of it . Then I read the whole thing .
Great job .

Nice, Pete. Hey, I realized I didn't ever fully thank you for helping me with my Essaness Craft -woody. I found a shop here in Spokane that rebuilt my old manual fuel pump. Works great. Had to replace the voltage regulator and she runs perfect! Thanks for all of your help on that. I'm going to have to work on my shop. Shop envy.~Peter

Nice. I can't tell you how many hundreds of feet of trim, casing, base shoe, etc. I've mitered with the saw on the floor and a collection of wood blocks and whatever else, including my own foot, stabilizing the rest of the piece I was cutting. I can't imagine the luxury of a table like that. Almost all of the ranch-style trim has been replaced in my house with the saw on the floor the whole time.

Joel,
I feel the pain for you!! I did the same on my present house. Set all the interior doors and trimmed out the inside of the whole house with the miter saw on the floor. It was at least power! But, I didn't have the luxury of a pneumatic finish nailer. Finish nails and a nail set!!
