Use my nauti solely for wakeboarding and have her weighted down quite heavily, ( around 800lbs). She pulls very well, but i am concerned about the strain on the engine with all the weight.(Engine is Ford 351, 1200 hrs light use before i bought her) Will a change of prop help at all on engine strain/ acceleration out of the hole? I am not in the least bit worried about reduced top speed as the boat never goes above 40 kmh really.
Anybody who has changed a standard prop, please let me know what you now use and how it has helped. Any advice fellas? |

i have the acme 542 and it is awesome. best money ever spent. it is a 3 blade 11.5x13. maybe lost a mile or two topend. but gained incredible hole shot, way better fuel economy, way better holding speed. we run 1000?1200 lbs of fatsacks and usually 6/7 people. i used to hold it floored for a while but now it never gets floored except to show off when its empty.

Cheers mate. Will the difference from standard be that different? If it really is then i will see what i can find, but i would imagine that it is a hard item to track here in England, (And DAMNED expensive). Thats why i need to be sure that it really is worth its money. If it allows me to get out of the hole quicker and add more weight then i will get hold of one !!!

So what's the bottom line opinion?
I've still got the standard 13X13 on my '84' w/351PCM. We do a little bit of everything, pulling a tube, Kneeboard, barefoot, sking, wakeboard. Is there a gain to going to a 4-blade? |

882001, My boat is a 79, rh rotation, will the 542 fit OK? I think i can get hold of one but it has to be shipped from US, and the costs are double what you pay!! Hence my concern in making sure this is the perfect model prop for me. No way of testing them over here. Cheers
