Hey,

I live in Michigan and my husband just got a job in Mississippi, so we are probably going to be relocating. I was wondering if any one could tell me what the South is like to live in? I hear that the bug are huge and the humidity is high, but other than that I know next to nothing about the south. I did read the 25 rules on living in the south that was very insightful!!!!

Thanx!

We are members of a Yacht club at Ocean Springs, spend some time there racing and relaxing on the Gulf Coast......Welcome.............Boat dr

We will be roosting in Meridian. My husband is employed at tower automotive, and as to changing anyone to suit me, I've long ago given up on that and just try to get along.

Jennifer, welcome aboard and don't mind Doc...he finished his Skier and just needs another project!

The south is the warmest(litterally too) place you can be. We like to wave to our neighbors and don't like to get in a hurry. We do like our tea over ice like Doc said...you'll see why!

Don't worry about the bugs(some are really cool!), they aren't big enough to carry you off...but they are big enough to see when you need a target. You'll be fine and guessing you're a skier/boater you'll love the extended season!!!    <--Those you'll need as well!

Nothern Girl-
I moved from Metro Detroit to FL last year with my wife and now she never wants to move back! I have found that the bugs are not all that bad, there are just more of them. The worst part about the south is the grass! I do not know about Mississippi, but all of Florida is St. Augustine grass and it is basically a weed and it sucks to walk on, you have to wear shoes at all times.

But, Like Doc said, the weather more than makes up for that.

"LET IT GO"

Being from the North and frequently visiting the South I thought I'd be able to provide something to this thread. I supported Buffalo's comments and didn't put anyone or anything down.

Anywho, I didn't move south. 60605 is my zip. My grandfather died on Sunday but didn't leave me in charge of anything.

This pretty well sums up the south.

boating in the south

(Just kidding, I really do like the south and southerners, but this is pretty funny)

I've lived all over the world and people are pretty much the same everywhere you go. A simile is a smile and a frown is a frown. There are people who do both everywhere, you'll do just fine.

When you start dipping your cornbread in your "pot liquor" you will truly be a southerner. The ones who know what pot liquor is know what I'm talking about. I'll bet a six pack the Boat Dr. knows.
