Can I drill & tap a hole for a pipe fitting, for the PCV in the manifold and skip the carb spacer to save an inch of hood clearance?
Is plenum vacuum better then runner vacuum for the PCV? The intake is 2 inchs taller than stock.

Absolutely. However, you might have a clearance problem with the carb linkage. Mine will hit the mount for the morse cable. I'm not currently using a spacer. I might have bent the linkage to clear but don't tell anyone!

Does your carb not have a fitting for the PCV hose?

Today you are right and wrong. The old ones don't, the new ones do. If you got a fresh carb, it would have the PVC vac port. But your solution is more economical.

Ahhh....

See, while I am now running an edelbrock performer intake, the spacer I am using is not allowing my stock flame arrestor to clear the motorbox.

I think I will simply remove the spacer for now, find a fitting to fit the hole in the back right runner, and run the PVC tube to that. what size is that hole anyway? 5/16" npt, or is it 3/8 NPT?

I know I know, some may say I am giving up some power that way, but I am using a better intake and better heads now, so I doubt I will "miss" the extra hp or 5 from the spacer;)

Maybe next year I wil run the spacer, and then buy a nice new flame arrestor to make it work.

Right now I just want to get her back on the water for as little $$ as possible. I stuck around $800 into the engine upgrades this year already.

That is good to know about the older and newer holley marine carbs though. I never knew that.

More importantly, what is the yellow wire doing on the exhaust manifold LOL

It is good to hear that your 1 cylinder isn't lean or anything by venting the PVC that way.

What part # is that K&N? Also, how tall is it, not jsut the filter hight, I mean the total height?

PCV / PVC whatever
A 454 Barefoot spark arrester will help with hood clearance.

Its stainless!

the pic with the yellow wire was taken when the tranny was out and it was holding some stuff out of the way!

I think the Flame arrestor is 3=1/2 in, but you can check the specs out at REX-MARINE.COM its called (Custom 66 series)
