When I see the news here, the finacial world is taking some serious beatings all over the world.

Here in Europe, it's Fortis group who ,just had to part from their top manager Jean-Paul Votron, because they took a serious downfall on the stock market.

With you boys it's Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as I just heard on the news...

What the f*ck is going on in the world nowadays?? Gas is mucho expensive, food is mucho expensive... Businesses are falling down like flies...

Sometimes it's just scary to me...

Kristof,

Everything you say is true and then some, especially here in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, but the sun is out and the Tique is runnin' good...what else matters?

Yep, indeed, you're right... But even that isn't going well for me at the moment... Bad weather over here (two weeks already and no improvement in sight) and my boat at the dealer with a busted prop and shaft

Worse than Fannie and Freddy is that the Begiums are buying Budweiser. Nothing personal Kristof, but Bud is as American as apple pie and is my staple beer. I ususally buy it by the 30 pak for $15 to $18. I'm going to be swithcing over to local micros which run $15 for a 12 pak, ouch.

Bruce, You talking about beverages reminded me I need to give you a report on the Moxie. Gary S. had seen our discussion here and then found some in a store in northern Illinois. He brought 2 bottles with him to GL for a tasting. Except for a small aftertaste, I loved the stuff!! Not too sweet and just the correct amount of carbonation. I'd have to describe it's taste as having a hint of root bear, cream soda and then a spicy mystery taste!

Pete, Glad you liked it. It's the only soda I like to drink. Did Boat Dr get to try it? It's also good with rum or ice cream. And besides thurst, it cures a hangover or upset stomach.

Reagan once said... 'I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.'

My grandfather once said...'A donkey is a horse made by committee'.

It seems to me that most of our problems originate in congress; they not only have a lower approval rating than bush, but they were in single digits last I heard.

The Fairtax would return a lot of power to the people, and while mostly symbolic, bush raised the moratorium on offshore drilling today. Both would be a great start, BUT...they both have to go through congress/committee?!!?

Things aren't improving here either...
Our federal government has resigned yesterday evening, because after a year of argueing between french speaking south and dutch speaking north on the reform of the state, no solution was found. In the mean time, no governmental work is done to tangle the real problems of the people here, such as gas prices, food prices, energy prices and tax reforms...
Unions are getting ready for battle here. It's gonna be a warm fall in Belgium...

Oh, and Eric, I'll drink a Bud with you anyday too and sit at the bar talking about how we would rule the world LOL...

I guess we can all agree that that the world nowadays is one big village... What happens in your neck of the woods today, will have it's effect on our neck of the woods tomorrow and vice versa...

You know if we would just start charging the OPEC folks the same amount of $$$$ for grain that we ship over there for the amount of $$$$ they charge us for the same amount of Oil. We 'd solve this problem really fast. If they refuse to pay what we are charging for food then tell em'

FINE! Eat your oil!

See how fast the price of oil comes down.

700 billion dollars a year leaves this country for oil dependency, thats a ton of money going out. what i see that is really going on is, Saudi Arabia is investing billions into thier country gearing up for tourism, this is the replacement income for crude oil. the price increases are due to this because possibly there will be shortages in the near future....the ground only holds so much crude and they have been pumping the middle east for years, once the Saudi's run out,.. lets face it...we have no use for them,
