This morning at 8:20 am, my wife and I put our daughter, just 5 yrs. old, on the bus for her first day of kindergarten. We won't see her again until 4:15.
Man, when did she grow up? -Keith |

What a contrast Keith, I've talked to my son every night this week. First day of classes in college yesterday, the home sickness lasted one day. He's off and running now.
Make sure you enjoy every minute with them and never stop interacting. |

What seems like just yesterday was in that same place with Maddie, she started 4th grade on Tuesday and Alex is now a Sophomore in College.
One thing about these buses that confuses me, when did they start making them so long, I always rode the short bus to school, sat right next to Brownie? |

Wow Keith. This is a huge cliche, but I remember taking that first one to K like it was yesterday. Sent him to college two weeks ago and cried like a baby. He, of course, shrugged his shoulders and walked off! I'm still recovering. I was ready for him to go and it still hurt.
Quinner, somehow we're not overly surprised about your question. Very funny confession. |

Same story her Keith, I remember the kindergarten drop off like it was yesterday and just last weekend we dropped her off for year 2 of college. Hold on to your hat, it goes by quickly. But more importantly, cherish every second you have with them because every age will provide you with many great memories and when you drop them off at the dorm, you cant help but stop and reflect that although there will still be good times, there are many that have passed and will never happen again.

Was it frustrating when you would bump your head on the window while trying to lick it? Kieth Recently, my wife and I were watching old vids of my oldest at the bus stop on his first day of kindergarden, and like Larry, he is now in his second year at Michigan. Take every chance you get to be involved at her school, because pretty soon, they won't allow you in her dorm after hours. Steve |

I had my seven-year-old when I was 49 (late bloomer!) and remember sending him off to school last year. He was so happy and proud and I was trying not to bawl like a baby .
They say to cherish every moment because they go so fast and I've been trying to follow that advice, but man the time does fly! |

Yeah, Keith, we sent our little kid Alex off for her first day of all day kindergarten on Tuesday. I was OK, but m'lady was a bit of a wreck. Had to take her out for lunch so she wouldn't be eating a sad little sandwich alone without her little buddy.

Sign in our front yard. We used it as xmas card a couple years ago. Quinner & Brownie may have had one nearby like you said Tim.

keith,
i am taking notes. My little girl is 4 and is now going to pre-k 5 days a week. My sone just turned 1 and got his first major hair cut today. As an aside, that is the great thing about what we are all doing here with our boats and kids. Creating memories that will last a life time. No matter how much i was at my partents throats growing up, everything got better when we were all at the lake. |

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the words of advise. Well, my little girl arrived home safe and sound from her first day of school to a waiting Mom, Dad and little brother (3 yrs). The bus was only a grueling 15 mins. late. She did great and can't wait to go back tomorrow. We're all very proud of her. -Keith |

Fasten your seatbelt, and enjoy these early days, because they will fly by so fast your head will spin. My 13 year old just started 8th grade, that first bus ride seems like yesterday! |

Sounds like a lot of sadness & frowning faces on here. Cheer up, it does get better. My oldest is a senior in college & youngest is a freshman in college. Finally piece & quiet in my house!
Only problem is- I'm broke! |

Feel your pain Keith. Well sorta! My step daughter just turned 13 ( going on 18) and of course she is a captain of the football cheerleading squad. She is "Going Out" with a captain of the 8th grade football team. She is going to her first "boy-girl" party tonight so both me and Momma are a nervous wreck today. Seems like yesterday that I was just teaching her to kneeboard. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Keith it does keep getting better. Especially as they learn to water and snow ski. There's no better partners. Everyone said it would fly by fast and it does. My oldest is a Jr in college and my 2 youngest are a freshman and sr. in high school. After 20 years of doing nothing but stuff with the kids, the idea that in 4 years they will all be gone is frightening. |

These stories are great. Mine is 20 and 17 and it seems like yesterday they were both starting school. Great kids, because they still love to go to the lake with the ole Mustang and their parents, uncle, cousin, and grandma. Lots of great memories on the lake, just like the memories of starting school. Enjoy, the years go toooooo fast!

eric: I always gotta LOL at most of your posts. You are gonna get a treat when you get to meet Alan..the magicman. Go easy on the brunstucky welcome...he might not understand all the banjos and stuff.
Hey Tim: I seen the pictures of those young ladies...I second the comment about the "open door" policy. Man are you in for a wild couple of years. Greetings to Kim as well. john |
