had to post a couple situations that i think are funny in the boat business.
the first is guy with a bad crank, qouted him around 2 k for the job, i know of him around town and is kinda snakey. he asks if i need any extra propane tanks for my lift trucks i said yeah, next morning 2 propane tanks sitting in my shop. fine, next day a POS four Winns sitting in the parking lot and im wondering who's it is, well it comes time for this guy to bring $500.00 for parts to get started.....here we go....He says well what about the propane tanks? what about the boat in your parking lot for parts?
my reply.....anything you bring me is a gift and thank-you for the nice gesture.....where's my $500.00?

another recent one is trading a boat for work, he is advertising the boat for 4k, and I am approximately doing the same dollar amount in work. i give him the bill and it is at $75.00 per hour and all the parts are at retail. now he's pissed and starts to question the bill.
My reply, how much are you trying to sell the boat for? he says 4k, my reply again, why should i discount my work when your not discounting the price of the boat on the trade we talked about?
always a lesson learned
