When I was a kid (in the 60s) my Dad had a old wood boat about 16 ft. It had a steel eye fitting at the nose of the bow and 2 more on the gunnel between the front and back seats. The boat hung under the trailer with a steel bar from side to side and was removed when the boat was in the water. The nose had a bolt to locate it on the trailor. We carried the 15 hp outboard in the trunk and put it on at the ramp.
Just wondering what brand that old boat was?

My older brother "might" have a picture. It was cool you unhitched it from the car, took the bolt out of the bow eye, lifted the nose of the trailor and the boat sat down in the water.
It's the boat I learned to ski behind on the Detroit River.

Andy, There were hundreds of manufacturers of wood boats especially outboards. Some build and sold out of nothing more than large garages!! I suggest you get "The Real Runabouts" by Bob Speltz. He put out 6 volumes and I think it's ether #4 or #5 that's his outboard edition.

BTW, The overhead hoist type trailers were very popular before there were any decent boat ramps. The trailer didn't need to be in the water very far so you really didn't even need a ramp. The same is true with the tilting bed type trailer.

Pete
That trailor is the only like I ever saw.
We sure had a lot of fun in that old boat.
I'd guess it was from the 50s.
