When I was a kid I messed around with model cars. One time I "customized" a rolls royce...decals, extra bling, racing slicks... I had an excuse tho, I was only 8.

I bet most people cringe when they see it. The owner probably thinks he's a hot ticket.

Actually he didn't seem to think he was a hot ticket. He just said, I have kids. This is our version of a wake boat. We don't really care what anyone else thinks about it. Other than the tower and speakers, the boats was extremeley well restored. The boat was named "Wake" BKH

I suppose he can always get it back to stock with minimal work. Pretty boat otherwise.

Yup, I missed it last evening and just took a look this morning! What can I say besides yes, the deck with new vinyl can be brought back to original. Maybe the next owner of the beautiful Chris will have some respect for her!! If he's got the $$ for the Chris, then he should have bought a wake boat. I feel his priorities in life are off.

Brian, Can't see - did he put a swim platform on it too??

I would rather see it in that state and used daily than as a trailer queen waiting to see the light of day at its next show... and thats nothing against Pete I have seen him use his boats but I drive by a pole barn every time I am on the lake that I know has just under a hundred pristine show boats piled up in racks three high, a nice collection but what a waste.

No platform. The boat behind "Wake" was a very nice 62 Chris Craft.

Joe, You're correct that there are collectors out there that do nothing but display/store. However, I feel antique and classic boats are a exception. Most of use do use our boats and I'd say the majority are actually kept on the water. After reading your comment, I thought about the boats/owners that were at our recent show. I know about 90% of them and can safely say that of them 95% are user boats. This is common at small to large local shows. The big shows will draw in the "trailer queens" and the collectors but still they make up a small percentage.

Brian, Well, at least he didn't put the platform on it! I wonder how his kids treat the boat getting in and out or putting gear/boards in and out!

BTW, I can tell by the bow deck and deck vents that the Chris is a Holiday. The 18' would have the 185HP in it and if it was the longer 20' then it was the 275HP.

OK Pete, we know the 185 was a 283 GM, but what about the supplier and cubic inch of the 275?

Edit: Reid, I just noticed that this engine is the 431CI. They also had a 430. I'm not familiar with the details of the three sizes or the years they were made. I do know that the 427 was the most popular.

Did H/M marinize the big blocks too? I've only seen the 302 and 351's.

Its over? Me and Eddie went footin' tonight and have plans for Saturday morning.

You better plan to stop when you go to visit your Dad.

Gotta love those long weekends, huh?
