Anyone know how to remove the side panels of a sport nautique 1992 ?
The space behind them is foamed in, so I cant see if there are bolts/christmas trees/ ? Please advice howto remove. |

I too would like to know...anybody?? I would think that the coaming pads/side panels are held on by plasic clips. Does it tear up the clips to remove the panels and if so, can you find replacements?

Are you looking to remove the side panels in the front of the boat or the back area of the boat? I know in my 94 Sport, to remove the back part there were about 4 to 6 bolts on each side panel. I think they were 3/4" or 9/16" bolts but not sure. If you are looking to remove the front of side panels I would think they would be plastic push in connectors but not sure, I haven't looked to close. Good luck.

Ahh, combing pads. Wasnt sure what you were talking about- thought it might have been something specific to the Sport.
The combing pads can just be pulled right off- Dave is correct that theyre only held on by plastic clips. I would recommend new clips- some will break when removed. Try SECC or MWCC to see if they have any. I removed mine so many times that the wood backing actually wouldnt hold the clips very well- I ended up putting 4-5 of these in per side... the panels dont fall off in chop anymore!

On my 92 SN, I can't quite remember the size off hand (maybe 1/2 or 9/16), but there are about 6 studs that come through the coaming pads and are nutted from the back.

Yes, and like Tim said, they tend to loosen up quite often, so put that on your regular maintenance list. |

Tim, It's possible that the PO may have added this "Enhanced" combing pad feature after dealing with the clips so long... I'm not really sure. They still come loose on a regular basis though.
