As many of you know, I take an annual trip in March with my wife and some friends snow skiing somewhere out west. Last March we visited Utah in the middle of their third snowiest winter on record.

I just wrapped up the video from last year's trip and posted it to the video section. For those who have seen Northeast Amateurs, you'll recognize my distinct editing style.

I hope you enjoy.

Damn it! Now I have to go plan a trip!

I assume the guy telamarking was in your group and you were not just following him around all week? I have to give those guys credit! Man! What a workout.

Looks like it was an awesome time.

I'm off on Feb 6th to France for a short ski!
I'll just have to be causious with that broken wrist of mine (still isn't fully healed) and not get into crazy downhill runs (and that gonna be though... )

Great video, Keith. I love Utah. Looks like some of the footage was shot in the Wildcat area at Alta.

Does the 702 refer to 702" of annual snowfall that season?

Great shots, looks like a blast.

Exactly. We were so lucky. It snowed 12-30" each day we were there except for the one sunny day at Alta.

Heading out to MT and WY this March and we're hoping for similar conditions.

Uhhhhh...wow. More snow than I've seen in a long time. I was so shell-shocked that I had to go back and watch Northeast Amteuers a couple times.

Keith you are very good at putting those videos together.

Keith- another great video. It rated a "Connie- come see this" AND A "send that to the kids". Big awards around our place !!LOL Anyways- what timing! My son is negotiating on a car in Salt Lake city and I just researched the local Utah skiing last night. I thought it could work into 3 days skiing/boarding and a looooong drive home. Maybe more skiing and my son could catch a flight back but I'm getting a little old to do 30 hrs solo.

Thanks for sharing.

We went to Snowbird and Alta in 97 and then again in 99. Tons of snow there, that's for sure. The most I've ever seen. In 97, every single day we were there was basically a blizzard. Awesome. I thought Alta was skis only (no snowboards) or it was at one time if not anymore.

Joel, you are correct ... 'Alta is for skiers', as they say. Mixing skiers/riders and different camera angles was the number one priority so I blended the footage from all the different mountains. The Alta footage was our one and only day of sun (and just myself, my wife and sister - the skiers).

I intentionally use the footage with few other people in it to give the illusion we had the place to ourselves. With that said, skiing mid-week is great and the only real lines the entire trip were at the Snowbird tram.

Glad to hear there are other alpine skiers and riders here. I think the two sports (water and snow) have a lot in common - especially the family aspect. My kids have been snow skiing since they were 2 yrs old (ability to swim not required ).

I just got back wed. from a 2 day ski trip to Brighton. Flew in Mon and it snowed the whole day. Sun managed to pop out on Tuesday and we pratically had the whole resort to ourselves. Keith is correct in saying midweek is the best time to go. Daytime temps were 8'F and even colder at night. We chose Brighton as they allow us derelect snowboarders to ride and they have lighted runs. Have only a few pics as camera did not function too well in single digit temps. Will post em soon.

Here are my pics from Snowboard trip 2009.

Start of 17 mile trip to Brighton/Solitude Ski resorts.

Half Way there.

Going up for the First run of the day 8'F in the Sun. ( That's the wind blowing snow of the peak, not a cloud!)

Self portrait of Foot ( Dang it's Cold )

I love that place. It was an annaul trip for me for about 10 years. Alta is my favorite, but it's all great. Last trip we spent the entire week at Brighton as my nephew was with us and he was a boarder. Mofoot those pics bring back memories. One winter I was there they had had so much snow the National Guard was removing the snow off the streets in SLC. We lost one day because they closed the canyon down completely due to too much snow.

Love the video Keith!
It's right up there with the Blizzard of Ahhs and License to Thrill

Hope you guys have similar conditions in MT/ WY this March.
If you get a chance, I highly recommend you hit Bridger Bowl for at least a day while you're in the Bo-zone.

Thanks for sharing with us.
