REMEMBER, NOT ALL WHO WANDER ARE LOST !   WE MAY BE JUST LOOKING AROUND...

Andy Rooney

DID YOU KNOW? As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view. It is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?
As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW?
As you sit inside the court room, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

DID YOU KNOW?
James Madison, the fourth president, known as 'The Father of Our Constitution' made the following statement:

'We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.'

DID YOU KNOW?
Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said:
'It cannot be emphasized too
strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ'.

DID YOU KNOW?
Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

DID YOU KNOW?
Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

DID YOU KNOW?
Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law an oligarchy....the rule of few over many.

DID YOU KNOW?
The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said:
'Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers.'

How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

Lets put it around the world and let the world see and remember what this great country was built on.

Chamber, US House of Representatives

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't. Now it is your turn...
It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or 'In God We Trust' on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance.

If you agree, pass this on.

i would not usually respond to this in such a forum but i really hate it when people try and push their religious views on others so this post calls for a differing opinion.

we can critizize one's thoughts in any aspect of life but it's considered taboo to criticize someone's religious beliefs.

i too use to believe in a god until i grew up and became an adult. Something like 44% of americans think jessus is going to come back within 50yrs and ratpure all the good people. 50 years? people use to believe in zeus and apollo the same way people believe in god.

it seems odd to me that the bible doesn't mention dinasours though we know they exsisted and that the bible says the earth is only 6,000 years old? anyone who believes the earth is only 6,000 years old is in the same boat as people who believe that the holocaust never happened.

think about this, when you have good evidence you talk about the evidence, when you have good arguments you talk about the arguments but when you talk about faith you start reaching for dogmas. faith is permission that religious people give each other to believe in things when reason fails. this is not what we do in science or any other aspect of life. if i told you i had a nautique that goes 80mph you would want some type of evidence right?

it's amazing how religion get's a pass on all criticizsm. the bible is nothing more than iron age philosphy.

here's a point you probably agree with,

you believe your religion is true and that your religion is the only true religion, right?
well, they can't all be true and every believer should expect to end up in hell based on the odds.

you should also realize that it is by shear chance that you are a christian. do you think that if you were born in pakistan you would still be a christian? no, chances are you would not but you would still believe in your religion just as strongly as you believe now.

when you pray for a person and things go your way you think god answered your prayers but when you pray and things don't go your way you think god needed that person in heaven.

the thing that really ticks me off about religions is that they run their churces like corporations making billions of dollars a year and don't pay a damn thing in taxes. funny how god always needs money.

i understand that you have committed a lot of time into believing in "god" and that for you to question your own beliefs are next to impossible.
