through the years these boats have evolved to what they are today, but they still serve the same purpose, but maybe a great idea lingers out there to bring these boats to the next level, something to you where you say, you know they should have a tool for this, or hey maybe the line should re-tract on its own, something to that nature

I've always thought there as to be some way to make towers removable without brackets or mounts left on the deck.

I envisioned maybe the tower going down below the deck and being bolted/attached below the surface. When removed you could have a fiberglass plug or cap to cover the hole. Thus, leaving those classic lines without the mounts on the deck when the tower is removed.

Great thread Eric, I've been thinking about this for a while!!

Not a good photoshop, but i'm in class and dont have much time!

great start Chris,
would it be beneficial to come up with some type a valve on Borg Warners to slow the prop speed at docking and no wake zones?

as the Doc came up with a great idea on cruise control, we have many minds here to come up with some type of idea

Why conceal them? Even though it wouldn't be original, I'd put one of these on the bow deck if it would work on the jet skis and tubers!!!

Pete, I was thinking more of out the front and would conceal them behind some flush mount headlights, I need to let this go because I'm getting exited and you know what happens in my garage then!!!

Great ideas BTW...
Storm, I especially like the depth charge system.

How about a bikini detecter built into the GPS.
Or an alarm on the built in cooler when it's down to 1/4 full.

how about a suction cupped, dark colored piece of plexiglass for the front windshield on those sunny days?
on yachts they hit a button and the glass automatically shades, that wouldnt be a bad option

Eric the thing is Borgwarners are not used on CCs anymore...

I think most ski/wakeboard boats today have become overthought, they have many, MANY more things that are desirable for a common guy, C'mon, have any of you seen the new Malibu monitor dash? why would you want a LCD screen where you NEED gauges???

Cant stop progress, BW 5000 series are.....you could put trolling valves on any transmission.
Im all about, steering wheel, hull and an engine....if i had tooi would sit on a milk crate...
If the wakeboard wasnt invented thats how the boats would be,

I guess the point of the post is, what is a PITA on a ski boat, what would make things easier

I know docking is a PITA in the wind, line tangle seems to be a problem, stuff like that

Having no control of the boat on reverse is annoying sometimes, wonder if those dual rudders on the Epic wake boat are really as good as they say.

Also I dont understand why there're no boats with the exhaust going through the bottom of the hull, it would be quite more silent.

those are the C3PO exhaust!!
No I meant getting the exhaust out of the bottom from the bottom of the hull, they use it on some cruisers.
John I get your point, I just think that in some boats exhaust sound is good, in some more family oriented boat's everybody's ears end hurting.

adding pockets for the tower is a piece of cake the issue is and Why I believe they are designed the way that they are is ......what happens when your cruising down the road and don't have clearance to get under something, guide wire, over pass, tree limb. hinged tower folds below the windshield highest point problem solve. With pockets for mounting you have to remove the tower what a PIA to do on the road and how the hell do you do it by your self.

Another easy add on is a winch for the tow rope, mostly off the selve parts.

boom can be done to just not very cheaply

several things can be done who's got the pockets to develope it and then who's going to market it and sell it to the public/manufacturers?

For a long time, the goal of tournament boats was to make the wake smaller, is this all that is left that will eliminate any type of wake? Hydrofoil a Nautique so just the rudder and prop are in the water! Don't know if you would be able to turn on a dime like you can now though!

Chris you could still make it mount under the deck but make hinge above the deck. This would also be easy .
You could actually make the mounting holes double as beverage holders when the tower is not installed.
Average Joe would not know any different.

I made a new tool last week, but it was actually for the dock. Mine has pockets driven into the lake bottom so you can just drop the post in and go. I needed to move them all and every dock supplier, contractor inthe area told me how miserable they were to pull etc...

I just took an old dock posr and cut a slot in the side, welded in an old vise grip with an extended rod to open and close it from above the water. Slip it in the cup, lock the vise grip in place and pull them out. Worked so well all the neigbors want to move the docks around now. The one post socket i pulled was 6 feet long.

I had worked half a day trying to get one out with a shovel and a post last summer. Not really boat related I know but I enjoy making up little tools to do special jobs. Its kind of a hobby when Im in the right mood.
Take your work seriously, not yourself.
