1984 Ski Nautique Restoration Finished!

I meant to post some pics at the end of last year as I finally got this done around September. I spent a lot of time searching for info on this forum and got a lot of helpful and critical info here and just want to thank the regulars on this board.

If anyone has any questions on anything I did (stringers, floor, gelcoat, etc.) in this boat and how I ended up doing stuff, just let me know. Overall, it took about 3-4 months and about $6,000! (I payed someone about $1,000 to help with the gelcoating, which was created by the devil himself.) The rest was materials and new stuff!

What is the spatter paint material you used to coat the interior glass work? Nice job !

One more thing on the gelcaot floor that i forgot is that I had to mix with some type of "splatter" stuff (cant remember exactly what the guy at the boat shop gave me) that also helps with that splatter finish.

Thanks for asking on the wood and resin as I know I asked for some advice last year on it.

On the wood....I finally found that my local Lowes could order Douglas Fir. It was something like $80 per 14' board. I then used red cedar for the outer stringers. I left one side up while I did the other so I guess that might be what you were looking at if it looked like the old wood?

On the resin...the fiberglas budy of mine that worked at the sailboat building shop was able to get the vinyl resin they use for about $20/ gallon along with a discount on the mat and cloth so I just went with that. To make up for not using the epoxy resins, I went thick with the glass, made sure I put zero holes in the floor (I glassed in cedar wood on top of the finished floor to hold the seats) and also decided against going with carpet...so hopefully I wont have water trouble for another 30 years!!!
