I connected my Steering cable tonight only to find that it is frozen.
The cable was under water at the rudder end and it looks like it has rusted solid. Does anyone have a spare that they are willing to let go ? Or should I upgrade to a newer style cable with helm ? Thanks. |

Update...
Talked with Billy over the phone and was able to get the old cable out of the tube. I can now clean it and see if I can restore it to its original working condition. Thanks Billy and Correct Craft Parts. |

Roger, does the '66 use a rotary system? I know that my '71 and '90 both used the Teleflex Big-T helm. Pre-82 CC's used generic cables, so you can pick one up for ~$100... if that would work for you it may just be worth it to buy new!

Tim,
Not sure what you call the system. It is about a 3/4" green cable tube. Where can I see this generic cable so that I can check if it would work ? This is a picture of the rudder end that I now have seperated from the tube. |

Roger, its probably the standard rotary. Do you have a Big-T helm?
If so, then I would guess you can use the generic Teleflex cable (probably 17'). It looks like you'll also need the clevis kit. If you cant reuse your clamp tube, Go2Marine carries that too- I *think* this is the correct part number. |
