As you can see...no I didn't. I knew it was bad but not that bad!! The outer steel jacket was rusted in two probably right under the drivers seat. I couldn't pull the cable towards the stern as the steel wire was catching the wiring bundle and hanging up. I managed to pull the cable up enough towards the steering wheel where I managed to cut the inner cable (with a dremel tool) and then pull the cable out.
Now a question for the experts: Do I need to grease or do anything else to this tube before I install it? I can't wait to try her out!! She should drive like a different boat!! Thanks to any that may offer advice on the tube. Kenny<>{ |

Kenny - I lightly coated the tube with marine grase just so the seal wouldn't run dry. Good luck with getting it back together.

Well, last night I managed to get the new cable run and hooked up. Feels like power steering compared to the old cable. Looking forward to a test run!!
