Turn radius of a 2001

I've got an 83' SN 2001. While I am on a fairly small pond, there are five inboards of various makes, mine being the only CC on the pond. I've noticed my friends boats seem to turn tighter, some seemingly turning on a dime, power slide etc. While I am not looking to do tricks, being able to maneuver around obstacles at slow speeds is a safety feature; quite helpful while docking in windy conditions (a common occurrence in the afternoon at my dock) My boat is completely stock and the cable is the correct one (17.5 designation).

I'm guessing the turn radius is about 25-30 feet at idle speed, a half again, the length of my boat. My buddy's Mastercraft, turns in about 10 feet, roughly half the length of his boat.

In no way is the steering inadequate during normal piloting, either during towing or at cruising speed. There is no binding, noise, or any non-symmetry in handling. In other words, besides not being able to take a tight turn, it seems fine.

Is this simply a design aspect of the 2001?

Tutor - I have never measured the turning R but agree that it is very dependent on the engine RPM. If I need for it to come around quick, I just give it some throttle. If it is tight quarters, then I use reverse alternating with forward. That challenge is just part of the cool experience with these boats!

& yes I still have to back away from a bad dock approach once in a while. Just blame it on the wind & current.

At the time I wrote this, my boat was in the shop, having been dumped off a defective trailer. Part of the damage was the rudder was snapped clean off. Being insured, and repaired at a CC dealer, they replaced everything. It turns out the rudder port was damaged by the previous owner. The rudder was angled back, not allowing full deflection. Problem solved.
