uhhh first off , this is for my... uhhhh, mom, yeah, my mom.. she's wondering if anyone would happen to know the capacity rating on a pontoon boat?

Ohhh, .......OK,.... its my boat Its actually a mid 80's, Riva, 20 footer. The current plate is completely illegible, both # of people and weight. Im wondering if anyone has a simularly sized 'tuna that could give me the info from it to at least have a guideline?

btw,we got the 'tuna to be able to take our moms and grandson with us.

I think the rule of thumb around here is load it until water comes above the deck and then kick 1 or 2 off.     (of course I'm joking)

I saw a capacity plate on a 21 ft open bow VIP boat yesterday that read ,
9 persons or 1390 lbs
1390lbs ( motor, gear & people )

It had a 350 , so that pretty much leavs room for 3 adults & gear (coolers)

I belive it's 12. (so I've been told) I'd have to check on the weight.

I liked your first reply! Im not sure the DNR would think its as funny tho...

btw, we've had 8 adults on it...she was low, but not even close to the floor.

Pat,you get out yesterday? We did ..1st time this year on the river...should have stayed home.. Can you say" Prop-repair"?

Yes we had the Ski Jack out with kids and grand daughter . Grand daughter was getting cranky down by Moonlight so we had to take her back to the car with her parents . Then wendy .kids and I went back out skiing And tubing down to the sand bar . Alot lot of crap floating .
Thats to bad you hit something .

That was the first time for that boat . We had the skier out a weak before the river came up . That was a good ride .

Pat,
I think I hit a log/ something very solid.   Against better judment (Pam's) we went past the sandbar, towards the dam. Channel markers are missing/ in wrong locations. PLUS my STUPID depth sounder wasnt working...(thats another story)

Thank goodness didnt do any other damage.....got the spare prop already on.    Now if this rain would ever QUIT??!!!!

What time were you guys out?

I'm with Greg! 8 people is nothing. I seem to remember way back getting a party going and we'd have 20 kids (I was one of them) on the pontoon. Good thing we had coolers with us because it gave us extra seats! Back in those days, the DNR wardens would be in bed as soon as the sun went down.

From what I have seen no more than one person per horsepower or however many lawn chairs fit on the deck.
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.
