Hello everyone!! I am new to this site but I need so help from the pro out here. I have a 1996 Ski Nautique and every now and then the red light on the dash will come on saying that the boat is over heating, but it isnt. The boat goes into a safety mode that will not let it go above 20 mph. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and how I can solve it.

I had that happen on my Excel. A bad temp sensor had the PCM engine management module light the overheating light and put the engine in "limp mode". If you change the temperature sensor .......... Should work like a charm.

Now, if you really are overheating.......... Impeller, strainer, raw water pump, hoses... etc....etc...etc......

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on.

Make sure your strainer has the O-ring gasket in it. Also, take a 5/16" nutdriver and tigthen all your hose clamps. Lastly, check and/or replace your impeller.

I know we have two completely different boats (88 vs 96) but had to ask if the light is coming on while running an accessory? When I turn on my nav lights everything jumps up on the dash. Just a thought. . .
