I've been around Nautiques for about 20+ years, and constantly doing some sort of upgrade/improvement.
I recently install a Marine AM/FM/CD player in the glovebox if my 87 Ski Nautique. I know what several of you are going to say..... it won't fit. Any interst in finding out how I did it? If so, I will need help posting pictures etc. It's a simple modification that anyone can do with patients and a little pre-planning.
My next project might be an electric antenna for the same (I haven't decided if I really want it yet)

TJ:

Congratulations on installing the "radio". Most antennae installations I have seen, including my boat, simply have a rigid (conventional) antennae installed horizontally under the gunwale...seems to work satisfactorily and is unseen.

Does your ISP give you the option to have a homepage? If yes, then set up the hompage and upload photos to your homepage. You can then link to the picks. I would offer to host the pictures for you, but my space is limited and scarce right now.

David

I have to check into the homepage later today. If there is enough interest I will post several pictures and write up some instructions with diagrams of mods required.

I currently have a 3 foot wire type antenna plugged in to a fm amplifier, which then goes to the stereo. Lake Anna VA where I operate is down in a hole so without an fm amp you get very little reception, or what you do get fades if the boat swings to the left or right. The amplifier eliminated this problem. I probably would have installed the electric antenna by now on the right side but I'm just a little nervous putting holes in the gel coat

I can host the pictures for you if you'd like. Send them over to me at jeff@planetnautique.com and I'll get them set up for you. Next time you're out on the lake, keep an eye out for my SAN. I'd like to check out your installation.

I'm very interested in how you did it. I never even considered the glove box on my 89 because I didn't think it would work. Please share your info.

My 1988 2001 Came with the stereo in the glove box from the factory . It has a angled flat place for the stereo to be mounted perfectly .

Fabulous. I'll give that angled area a try. Thanks.

I will take some pictures this weekend and work on some instructions as well. I waited to see if anyone was interested first.
NautiqueJeff, are you on Lake Anna? I run at Contrary Creek by the bridge.

That would be great skyhawkflyer. I've been holding off on installing by system this year because of not having a good place for the radio.

It took me 1 rainy weekend to complete the install. Now my radio is always protected from the hot sun, rain showers, and my garden hose sprayer.
I'm going to take a few pictures this weekend. It entails modifying the left engine vent and some sealing afterward. It looks great and still leaves a bunch of room in the glove box. I'll get with Jeff to host the pictures on planetnautique.
