I own a 84 Nautique. It has no interior pads that run from front to back. I figure it was a option? My question was if they are sold or are usually just made out of plywood and upolstered. Thank you for any thoughts.

They are made from plywood (1/2", I believe). They are usually held in place by some sort of stud and retainer. If making them myself, I would use blind nuts in the combing pad with a threaded rod (with thread locker to keep the rod from turning in the blind nut) and a washer and nut. You will need a splice in the middle of the combing pad, just make sure you have a stud close to each side of the splice. This way, you do not have to worry about the strength of the splice (factory pads have weak splices).

Thank you for the reply. Thats a good idea, David. The upolstry guy I am going through said if I cut the plywood and install the hangers, he would make them for 245.00. Does that sound decent? Thats with sewing the stripes in too.
