I don't about my fellow countrymen, but I'm feeling proud today...
As of yesterday evening, Europe has its first president... And it's a Belgian!

Our soon to be former prime minister as been choosen by the leaders of the member states of Europe to be its first president.
Herman van Rompuy has in my opnion all the qualities needed for that job. He's not a flamboyant type of statesman, but he has the ability to reach compromises where no one can. He's a very discrete man who does a lot of work behind the scenes (and get the job done) instead of bragging about it in the spotlights.
All his political life he managed to reach agreements in very difficult dossiers, so he's the best man for the job.

Proud day for Belgium...

Congratulations! Tonight, I will hoist a fine Triple Belgian Ale in your honor.

BTW, wish we had one.

I knew it. I was suspecting that something good must be happening in Belgium. I supect that because I found Chimay beer at a 7-11 gas station. I really like that beer and seem to be available in more places. Finally a change from Heineken. Not that there is anything wrong with the locals.
