Vintage photo time again?

Im setting here at our daugthers,going into the holidays, thinking its time to do a little reminiscing. I came across this old photo, taken in the late 50's at my aunt and uncles cabin on the Mississippi.



thats me to the very left... looks like one of my cousins might have the originator of "shooting the moon".

I think many of us picked up our love of boats from our dads boats when we were kids. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of it. I will have to hunt around for one next time I go to my mom's house.

My dad won a '68 or '69 14' Chrysler Charger 118 outboard (white w/ gold stripe) in a sales contest when I was a kid. It was rated for a 65 HP motor. My dad promptly hung a 110 HP "Tower of Power" Merc off the back of it. I do remember that boat being FAST!!! Probably a little on the dangerous side too. Thats when I picked up my love for water-skiing. I would ski forever on our combo skis. He would finally have to just stop the boat to get me back inside it.

We used to ply the waters of Morse Resovoir in Cicero, Indidana which was near Noblesville (just north of Indy) where I grew up.

My daughter did them, her scanner is set up to do slides. She's a kids clothes designer for Kohls department stores.. all that school money does come in handy at times!

We always enjoyed getting together as a family and have "slide-shows" in the evenings, usually during winter. Last year after my father passed away, for Christmas, we scanned lots of the old slides and had an album made for mom so she could have pics to look at anytime she wanted . Those were just a few..

Mom and Dad were proud I remembered my Bible.... but, if you look close, you can actually see it was my first Graymarine engine manual.

Being somewhat computer illiterate I can't seem to scan anymore. I got a new pc with vista and my 2 year old hp printer/scanner does not support it.Went on hp's site ,no updates, so I'm a little miffed at hp. We are going to look at a Kodak esp-7 tonight.

Eric, we used to burn 2 cases of quarts of Sinclair 2 stroke oil on our 2 week vacation. I can't remember if they were 12 or 16 per case, but it was a lot of oil. Those windows on the back of the engine were for accessing the spark plugs without having to remove the engine cover because they needed to be changed often. That was the technology back then. Nobody considered it to be polluting, that's just the way it was.

Gorgeous car. Nice job. What's it worth out there? I was looking at a friend's father's car last summer that he just restored. A 62 with a 327. It was perfect as far as I could tell. He said he would be lucky to get $80k for it, a lot less than it would have cost if he paid some one to do it. He said he had $58 in it plus a year's labor. I'd have paid $80 for it, if...
