Drivers Exhaust Hot, Other side COOL???? |

The exhaust/water manifold behind the driver's seat, gets hot, but the other one is is completely cool.
I will note the I am running this on a water hose? I have the water cranked up. Also on the drivers side manifold, I noticed it has small exhaust leak, where just a little bit of exhaust is leaking up between where the exhaust mounts and valve covers. Could this actually be heating it up? Any ideas??? |

Im not familar with that year/model(sorry). However it sounds like there is an inbalance of water flow between the two. Have not seen too many Chevys in SN's.

Had the same problem in both boats. One boat had a chip off the rubber water pump impeller in the thermostat housing outlet that feeds that particluar manifold. The fittings can also be quite small so check there as well.
The other boats manifolds were junk. |

No, the exhaust leak would not heat up the manifold. Since you do have an exhaust leak, go ahead and remove the manifold. Carefully inspect the manifold for rust blocking the water passages and clean/replace as necessary. Also disconnect the water feed hose from the engine side of the plumbing and inspect fitting, etc. for rust blockage.
Hopefully the problem will then be obvious. |

Both manifolds will not be exactly the same temperature when the thermostat opens, that is if the constant feed from the raw pump is connected on one side of the thermostat housing, which the directional flow would carry more exiting water to one side. But when the thermostat is closed, both sides should be the same. If the driver side is hot, I would take the end cap off(if it comes off or the hose where water enters) where water enters the manifold. That end cap splits the water and sends it down the inside of each wall. It wouldn't take much to stop it up. My raw pump shredded last summer and I found pieces of impellor in both manifolds restricting water. While it is running off the water hose, do you notice less water coming out the driver side exhaust?

The strange thing, there is water running out of both exhaust.
Do you think the water pressure is not strong enough to flow both sides. I changed the impeller toward the end of the season. I took off the hose that goes right to the exhaust manifold, and it was full of warm water. |

Also to note, I was running it on an incline, not real steep, but enough so all the water would exit out the exhaust.
I just installed the electronic ignition, so I am going to hook it up to my other hose outlet which has more water pressure and see how it goes. I just dont see how it could be clogged when water is going through it also. |

I have found the best way to run on land is to run abs plastic pipe from pick up hose into a 5 gallon bucket and run water hose into bucket constantly to keep full.Any throttle above 1000 rpm will pull more water than my hose will supply.Plus,one time I had a bad impeller and did not realize until I ran like this and noticed that one of my cc's pulled way more H2O than the other.

Also,I forgot to say that you can idle until bucket is full and then you can rev to a higher rpm and pull water down and then idle to resupply.Cut a slot in bottom of abs to prevent hose from sucking to bottom of bucket and starving water pickup.

If it is a PCM engine possibly your riser gasket is leaking at the blocked of port allowing the water to flow on the low side of teh manifold. I prefer the new style of riser gaskets because they atre coated in graphite type of material and they seal up better than the paper gaskets.
